This post is long overdue. In fact this shoot took place at the end of last summer, but now that wedding season is starting, it seems like the right time to post it. As I have shared in the past, life happens and sometimes you just have to pick up where you left off, even if it is eight months later. But, this is really perfect timing—the spring and summer will be full of weddings, bridal showers, and lovely food. When the shoot came together I was new to Fredericksburg and just starting to connect to the local Rising Tide Society and other Virginia creatives. I came across a call for models and replied asking if they would be interested in having food in the shoot too. Photographer Natalie Jayne Moore would be shooting it and The Darling Event girls were styling the shoot so I knew it would be gorgeous—plus I really wanted to meet some like-minded ladies (and super-talented to boot!). They graciously welcomed me to join their Tinted Rose shoot. This was a wedding shoot and food, was not going to be the star so I went for something that would be understated and match the rosie color scheme: a composed apple-fennel salad, a cheese plate with pomegranate, and garnishes for the drinks. Then a couple of days before the shoot, the Darling girls mentioned they’d like to have a rustic “naked” cake. Being who I am, I said “YES,” then started to stress about the fact that I have never made a naked cake before. It was a learning adventure and I totally used a cake mix, but I think it looked good enough to eat. (Mr. L and Baby L can actually attest to the fact that it was good enough to eat.)
Images from the shoot went on to be featured on the super popular wedding site, 100 Layer Cake where you can see more photos and link to the full gallery. Here is just a sampling of the gorgeous photos from that day including mostly food ones, of course! Scroll to the end to see the full list of vendors who contributed to this lovely rose-inspired afternoon.
